Our Role as Data Processor

LyncScan provides a review management platform to businesses. In this capacity, we operate in two distinct roles depending on the type of data:

LyncScan as Data Controller

We act as the data controller for the personal information of our business users (account holders), such as registration details, login credentials, payment information, and usage data. We determine the purposes and means of processing this data as described in this Privacy Policy.

LyncScan as Data Processor

We act as a data processor for customer data collected through our review forms, QR codes, and related features on behalf of the businesses (data controllers) that use our Service. This means:

  • Customer review data (ratings, feedback, contact details) is collected and processed solely on behalf of the business that deployed the review form
  • We process this data only as instructed by the business and only to the extent necessary to provide the Service (displaying analytics, managing reviews, sending review-related notifications)
  • The business, as the data controller, is independently responsible for ensuring that it has a lawful basis for collecting its customers' data, including obtaining any required consents
  • The business is responsible for its own compliance with applicable data protection laws regarding how it uses, stores, or shares its customer data obtained through the Service
  • LyncScan does not independently determine how business customer data is used beyond providing the Service

Business Responsibilities

By using LyncScan, each business user acknowledges and agrees that:

  • They are the data controller for customer data collected through their use of the Service
  • They are solely responsible for the lawful collection, use, and handling of their customer data
  • They must maintain their own privacy policy that adequately informs their customers about data collection practices
  • They must obtain all necessary consents from their customers before collecting personal data through the Service
  • They will not use customer data collected through the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • They will comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws in their jurisdiction

No Sale of Data

LyncScan does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise commercially share any personal data — whether belonging to business users or their customers — with third parties for their own marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.

Specifically:

  • We do not sell business data or customer review data to any third party
  • We do not use business customer data for our own marketing or product development purposes
  • We do not share individually identifiable business or customer data with advertisers
  • We do not build profiles on business customers for purposes unrelated to providing the Service

Business data and customer data collected through our platform is used exclusively to provide the Service to the business that owns the data — including displaying analytics dashboards, managing reviews, and facilitating review-related notifications. We may use aggregated, anonymized, and de-identified data that cannot reasonably be linked to any individual for the purpose of improving our Service, but this data will never identify any individual person or business.
